Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of the ScrapMonk mobile app and the website scrapmonk.com (the "Service"), operated by ScrapMonk ("we", "us"). By creating an account or booking a pickup, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. The Service

ScrapMonk lets you see current scrap rates for your city, book a doorstep pickup, and sell recyclable scrap (such as paper, plastic, metal and e-waste) to us through our pickup partners. Pickups are available only in the cities and PIN codes we serve, on available dates and time slots.

2. Eligibility and your account

• You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract under Indian law.
• You sign in with your mobile number and a one-time password. Keep your phone secure; you are responsible for activity on your account.
• Give accurate information, including your name, phone number and pickup address, and keep it up to date.
• You may only sell scrap that you own or are authorised to sell.

3. Rates, weighing and payment

• Rates shown in the app are per unit (usually per KG) for your city and can change daily. The rate that applies is the one in effect at the time of pickup.
• Estimates shown while booking are only a guide. The final amount is based on the actual weight measured on the pickup partner's digital scale, the item category and its condition, in your presence.
• You are paid at the time of pickup, in cash or by UPI. Check the weight and amount before handing over your scrap and sharing your pickup OTP; sharing the OTP confirms the pickup is complete.
• A minimum pickup weight may apply, as shown in the app.
• Items that are wet, mixed with waste, or not on our rate list may be priced lower or refused.

4. Bookings and cancellations

• You can cancel a pickup in the app before it is completed, free of charge.
• We may reschedule or cancel a pickup because of partner availability, holidays, weather, or an address outside our service area. We will tell you in the app.
• Please be available at the address in the chosen time slot. Repeated no-shows may lead to restrictions on your account.

5. Items we do not accept

Do not hand over anything illegal, stolen, hazardous or dangerous, including explosives, gas cylinders that are not empty, chemicals, medical or biological waste, radioactive material, weapons or ammunition. The pickup partner may refuse any item, and we may report illegal items to the authorities.

6. Rewards, cashback and referrals

Points, cashback and referral bonuses are promotional, have no cash value except as stated in the app, cannot be transferred, and may be changed or withdrawn at any time. We may cancel rewards gained through fraud, fake accounts or misuse. Unused rewards are forfeited if your account is deleted.

7. Pickup partners

Pickup partners must follow our partner guidelines, behave courteously and safely, weigh accurately in front of the customer, pay the correct amount, and use customer information only to complete the assigned pickup.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• make fake bookings, give false information, or impersonate anyone;
• harass, abuse or threaten pickup partners, customers or our staff;
• misuse rewards or referrals, or create multiple accounts to do so;
• interfere with, reverse-engineer or try to gain unauthorised access to the Service.

We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms.

9. Our content

The ScrapMonk name, logo, app and website content belong to ScrapMonk. You may use them only to use the Service as intended.

10. Disclaimers and liability

We work to keep the Service accurate and available, but it is provided "as is", and rates, availability and features may change. To the extent permitted by law, ScrapMonk is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability for any claim relating to a pickup is limited to the amount paid or payable for that pickup. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 or other law that cannot be excluded.

11. Ending your account

You can stop using the Service and ask us to delete your account at any time; see Delete your account.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. We will change the effective date above and tell you in the app about significant changes. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept them.

13. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. We will first try to resolve any dispute with you informally. Courts in Uttar Pradesh, India will have jurisdiction, subject to any rights you have to approach consumer forums.
